Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response effectively addresses the task by identifying and reporting the main features of the bar chart. You have successfully selected key data points to illustrate trends related to age and education, such as the contrast between younger and older women regarding leisure and work. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the main trends. To reach a higher band, ensure that all categories mentioned in the prompt are fully integrated; while you mention work and leisure, the 'household activities' category is absent from your analysis, which is a minor omission in terms of fully covering all parts of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is well-organized with a logical progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a clear focus, moving from an introduction and overview to specific details categorized by age and then education. Cohesive devices such as 'In terms of', 'By contrast', and 'Conversely' are used effectively to link ideas and guide the reader. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is presented in a way that is easy to follow. The flow is smooth, and the relationship between the different data points is clearly articulated throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Phrases such as 'educational attainment', 'work-related activities', and 'devoted more time' are used accurately. The vocabulary is appropriate for an academic report, and there are no significant errors in word choice or spelling. To improve, you could incorporate a slightly wider range of less common lexical items or more sophisticated collocations to describe the data trends, such as 'a significant disparity' or 'a notable correlation', which would elevate the response further.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

The response displays a good command of grammatical structures. You use a mix of simple and complex sentences effectively, such as 'Women aged 15–19 spent the most time on leisure and sports, at 36.8 hours per week, compared with only 6.9 hours on work.' The punctuation is accurate, and there are very few grammatical errors. The control over sentence structure is consistent, and the meaning is always clear. The response is largely error-free, which reflects a high level of grammatical accuracy suitable for this task.
