Student answer (Band 5.5)
The bar chart compares the average number of hours that women in various age groups and women with varying levels of education spend on primary activities each week.
By considering age as a factor, women who are above 75 years of age spend most of time in leisure and sports least time in working activities. Similarly, women of age 15 to 19 also spend majority of their time in leisure and sports. Women of age 25 to 44 spend most of their time working. Every women does some household activities but the women with age between 65 and 74 spend a lot of time in household activities.
With the evaluation metric being educational attainment, women holding a Bachelor's degree or higher sped around 27 hours per week working, whereas, women who have an education less than a high school diploma work the least. The higher you climb the tree of education, the lower the leisure time goes. Irrespective of the educational attainment, women spend almost the same amount of time doing household activities. But women having a higher educational attainment tend to do less household activities as they work the most.
In conclusion, women with higher qualification work the most and have very less time for leisure activities and vice versa. But all women contribute to the household activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response provides a general overview of the data, but it lacks the precision required for a high band score. While you identify some trends, you fail to include specific data points (e.g., actual hours) to support your claims, which is essential for Task 1. The description of the age groups is somewhat repetitive and lacks a clear comparative structure. Furthermore, the analysis of educational attainment is slightly inaccurate; for instance, stating that 'the higher you climb the tree of education, the lower the leisure time goes' is a good observation, but it needs to be backed by the specific figures from the chart to be fully effective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'By considering age as a factor' and 'With the evaluation metric being' are a bit clunky. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider range of cohesive devices to connect ideas more fluidly, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the sophistication and precision expected at higher levels. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'most of time' and 'least time'. The expression 'climb the tree of education' is an inappropriate idiom for an academic report. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'do less household activities' instead of 'perform fewer household activities'. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding informal or metaphorical language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'Every women does' should be 'Every woman does', and 'the women with age between' should be 'women aged between'. Additionally, 'have very less time' is grammatically incorrect; 'very little time' would be the correct form. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of quantifiers to improve your accuracy.
