Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the main features of the chart, mentioning categories such as working, leisure and sports, and household activities alongside age groups and educational levels. However, the overview is extremely weak and fails to properly synthesise the main trends or data points. For instance, the statement that 'They have taken 60 hours per weak' is confusing and inaccurate regarding the data. Furthermore, details are often vague, such as 'younger ones which comes under the age group of 45 to 54 years' (which contradicts standard definitions of younger) and some comparisons lack precision. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the lack of a clear, coherent summary and underdeveloped reporting place this firmly at a Band 5.0 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks clear overall progression and logical paragraphing. It opens with an introduction that is split awkwardly, and the body paragraphs are disjointed and repetitive. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes misused, such as 'Another thing they have discuss' and 'if we compare the education level with activities in the graph', which create a conversational and unacademic tone. Paragraphing is poorly handled, with single-sentence paragraphs breaking the flow of ideas. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of information. These issues align with the characteristics of a Band 4.5 to 5.0, resulting in a Band 5.0 score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Vocabulary usage is basic, repetitive, and marred by noticeable errors in word choice and spelling. Examples include 'weak' instead of 'week', 'discuss' instead of 'discussed', and 'Educators' instead of 'education levels' or 'educational attainment'. The student attempts some topic-specific vocabulary related to the prompt, such as 'educational attainment', 'leisure and sports', and 'primary activities', but the range remains limited and inadequate for a higher band. Frequent inaccuracies in collocation and word forms (e.g., 'sport related activities and household activities were time takers') cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the score from reaching a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple or awkwardly constructed complex sentences. There are frequent, noticeable errors in subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and punctuation throughout the text. Examples include 'The bar chart illustrate' (should be illustrates), 'hours spend' (should be spent), 'age group' (should be groups), and 'whose age are greater than' (awkward phrasing). Furthermore, conditional structures are poorly handled, as seen in 'if we compare the education level with activities in the graph, bachelors degree and higher educated women spend most of their time...'. These persistent errors cause frequent strain for the reader and reflect a Band 4.5, rounding to 5.0.
