Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given chart demonstrates that the women ranging in the age groups of 15-19 spend less time on average per week on the work related activities. In contrary to this the women with age groups of 25-44 are seen more busy with work. On the other hand, the females aged 15 to 19 and 65 over either uses thier major time per week on activities like sports or stay free. In reference to it, the females with age from 25 to 54 are seen less leisure among all the data. When the analysis comes to household activities there is almost same proportion of women with ages from 25 to 54 who are found to be involved in these chores. Additionally the chart also gives study on the women by educational attaintment where the women with less than a high school diploma are found to be not in the work activities. While highes ratio are for the women of high school who have leisure time. There is small ratio of bachelors students who do household chores.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both parts of the visual data—age groups and educational attainment—by highlighting some features and comparisons. However, the interpretation of the data contains significant inaccuracies and misreadings. For instance, the student states that women with less than a high school diploma are 'found to be not in the work activities,' whereas the chart shows an average of 10.7 hours per week for this group. Furthermore, the description of educational attainment is confusing, claiming that 'highest ratio are for the women of high school who have leisure time.' The overview lacks a clear summary of overall trends, such as the inverse relationship between working hours and leisure across age groups. Because of inaccurate data reporting and under-developed ideas, the response falls into the Band 5 category for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response presents some organization, beginning with age-related data and transitioning to educational attainment. However, there is no clear overall progression or paragraph structure, as all sentences are lumped into a single block of text. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'In contrary to this' and 'In reference to it,' which makes the logical links between ideas mechanical and difficult to follow. Pronoun referencing is also weak, as seen in 'thier major time' and ambiguous references to groups of women. Paragraphing is entirely absent, which negatively impacts the visual layout and flow of the text. These formatting and organizational flaws place the response solidly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent awkward collocations and word choice errors. Examples include 'work related activities' instead of employment, 'stay free' instead of having leisure time, 'educational attaintment' (spelling error), and 'highes ratio' instead of highest proportion. Phrases such as 'are seen more busy' and 'gives study on' sound unnatural and lack academic precision. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary, the noticeable errors and limited lexical range cause occasional difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as article misuse ('the women ranging in the age groups'), preposition errors ('spend less time on average per week on the work related activities'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('there is almost same proportion of women... who are found'). Spelling errors also occur, such as 'thier' instead of their and 'attaintment' instead of attainment. Although meaning can generally be extracted, these frequent errors cause strain for the reader and reflect a level consistent with Band 5.
