Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student attempts to cover the main features of the chart, mentioning leisure, work, and household activities across various age groups and educational levels. However, the response contains several inaccuracies and misinterpretations of the data. For instance, the writer claims that '75 and above were spend a lots of thire time in lesisure activites when work related areas they spent 1.3 hours', but 1.3 hours is actually the figure for the 75 and over age group in working activities, whereas the 1.5–19 age group also had 6.9 hours for working activities. Furthermore, the discussion of education levels is confused, stating 'In primary school higest ladies spent time in leisure and sport activity'—which misinterprets the category 'Less than a high school diploma' as primary school. The overview is overly simplistic. These limitations place the response at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is divided into four paragraphs, including an introduction and a conclusion, which provides a basic structural framework. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow due to poor referencing, abrupt transitions, and muddled groupings of data. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or incorrectly (e.g., 'While during bachelor's degree...', 'Wheres according to age', 'On the other hand'). Pronouns and determiners are frequently misused, making it hard to track what the writer is referring to. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal logical sequencing is weak. This corresponds to a Band 5.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and heavily restricted, containing numerous spelling errors and incorrect word choices throughout the text. Examples include 'illustates' (illustrates), 'educhation' and 'eduction' (education), 'higest' (highest), 'intrest' (interest), 'carrriuculam' (curriculum), 'Yongest' (youngest), 'thwre' (their/there), and 'singnificant diffrence' (significant difference). The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'educational attainment' and 'proportion', but the frequent lexical errors severely impede understanding and restrict the lexical score to a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on the attempt to address the prompt.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammar is characterized by a very limited range of structures, with frequent and pervasive errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and sentence construction. Examples include 'women spent... according age' (preposition error), 'there was various diffrents according there eduction' (grammatical structure and spelling), '75 and above were spend a lots of thire time' (incorrect verb form and redundant phrasing), and '54 to 64 age groups performe highest time as compare to younger above 15 appoximetly 18.3 to 6 hours respectively.' Simple sentences are often faulty, and attempts at more complex structures result in severe grammatical breakdown. This level of accuracy and control fits Band 4.0.
