Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The candidate attempts to cover the main features of the chart, including general trends across age groups and educational levels for working, leisure, and household activities. However, there are notable inaccuracies in the description of the data. For instance, the text states that working activities fluctuate without a specific trend among age groups, whereas the data clearly show a rise from younger groups up to age 25-54, followed by a decline. Additionally, the overview contains a factual contradiction, claiming that leisure and sport are seen particularly more across age groups while household activities fluctuate, when in reality household activities steadily increase across age groups. The response attempts an overview and touches on all categories, but the execution contains imprecise data reporting and unsupported generalizations, placing it securely in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an overall structure with an introductory sentence, an overview paragraph, and two body paragraphs dedicated to age groups and educational attainment respectively. However, the logical progression is hindered by poor paragraphing, awkward transitional phrases such as "Now in case of educational attainment", and repetitive sentence structures. Cohesive devices are used mechanically rather than flexibly (e.g., repeating 'while ... showing ... across different ...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of precise linking words makes the relationships between ideas feel disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is frequently faulty.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common collocations and topic-related terms such as 'educational attainment', 'prominent activity', and 'primary activities'. However, there are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'illustrated' instead of 'illustrates', 'refrence', 'flactuate' (fluctuate), 'Additonally', 'eduaction', and 'Lesiure'. Furthermore, the student relies on repetitive phrasing when describing data movements (e.g., 'showing a gradual increase', 'showing a decrease'), which limits lexical flexibility and precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical control is inconsistent. There are several tense errors, most notably opening with the past tense ('The bar chart illustrated') instead of the present tense for static data descriptions. Other errors include subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'working activities donot show', 'working shows the gradual increase') and missing articles or prepositions. While some complex clauses are attempted, frequent errors in punctuation and grammar occasionally cause strain for the reader.
