Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response falls significantly short of the minimum word requirement of 150 words, containing only 75 words. Because of this extreme brevity, the task is addressed only minimally and tangentially. While the introduction successfully paraphrases the prompt, the overview is cut short and the body paragraph breaks off mid-sentence after mentioning only a single data point for the 15 to 19 age group. Consequently, key features and comparisons required by the task are omitted, and the information is severely under-developed, aligning with a minimum response level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic attempt at logical organization, demonstrated by an opening introductory sentence and an overall summary statement ('Overall, the hours spent...'). However, because the text stops abruptly after just a few sentences, no clear progression of ideas can be established. Paragraphing is attempted by separating the introduction, overview, and the start of the body details, but the lack of completion prevents any meaningful cohesive structure or effective use of cohesive devices across a full essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, with appropriate attempts at functional phrasing such as 'allocates on primary activities' and 'various educational backgrounds'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'less than a high diploma holdrs' (containing spelling errors and unnatural phrasing) and 'more largest portion'. These errors and the very limited quantity of text restrict the range of vocabulary displayed, resulting in a limited but minimally functional lexical profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and moderately complex sentence structures, such as introductory dependent clauses ('Overall, the hours spent on the household activities increased...'). However, control is inconsistent, and the truncated nature of the response limits the grammatical structures shown. There are mechanical and structural slips, and the frequent abrupt ending prevents a full assessment of sentence variety. Nevertheless, the clauses that are written are mostly understandable, though frequent errors in longer texts would impede communication.
