Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially, attempting to present an overview and select features from the chart, but it contains several inaccuracies and unclear interpretations. The writer states that women with less than a high school diploma spend the highest amount of hours in primary activities overall, which misinterprets the data categories, and claims that teenagers spend the lowest amount. Furthermore, there are awkward generalisations and some figures are misquoted or awkwardly integrated, such as referencing '27$,28.6'. While some main features are outlined, the lack of accurate reporting and underdeveloped comparisons prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation in the essay, with a basic introduction and attempts to group information, but there is no clear overall progression. Paragraphing is rudimentary and sentences follow each other without smooth logical links. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or inaccurate, such as starting consecutive sentences abruptly with 'Women between the age...' and 'Womens with highest...'. Referencing and logical sequencing across the body paragraphs are faulty, making it difficult for the reader to follow a cohesive line of argument regarding the dataset.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are frequent lexical slips and non-standard collocations, such as 'spend in each week', 'educational qualification', 'releted' instead of related, 'Womens' instead of women, and 'various lid of primary activities' instead of various kinds. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are unsuccessful due to these inaccuracies, restricting the lexical score to this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student uses a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple clauses with frequent structural errors. There are frequent mistakes in grammatical forms and articles, including missing prepositions, incorrect verb forms ('spend spend', 'is equal to devour'), pluralisation errors ('a women', 'bachelor degree'), and punctuation slips. Attempts at complex or comparative structures are often faulty, and the frequent grammatical errors can cause some difficulty and strain for the reader throughout the text.
