Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Average hours per week women spent in selected primary activities, by age and educational attainment, 2009
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The bar graph compares the average hours females spent per week in working and work related activities, leisure and sports, and household activities, by age and educational attainment, in 2009.
Overall, it is evident that womens aged 75 or over spent most of their hours in leisure and sports, while womens aged between 15 to 19 recorded the lowest figures for household activities. Additionally, females who are 25 or above allocated time in attending colleges, pursue degrees.
Turning to the age categories, womens between 15 to 19, stood at 6.9 hours for working related activities, compared with 22.1 hours for 20 to 24 age group. Moreover, for 25 to 34 age category, working and work related or leisure and sports activities, recorded 27 and 28.6 average hours. For senior females aged over 55 spent their time mostly on leisure and sports activity and peaked at 51.7 hours.
With regard to the educational attainment, womens who have studied less than a high school diploma stood at 20 hours for household activities. Furthermore, most of them used their time in leisure and sports activity and peaked at 43.1 hours. High school graduates with no college accounted for the highest hours in leisure and sports reaching 38.9 hours. Female students who pursued bachelor's degree and higher constituted at 27.4 and 28.6 hours in work and leisure activities, respectively. The household activities noted the lowest figures across all primary activities as well as age groups reaching the lowest point at 10.7 hours.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the chart’s subject and include relevant comparisons across both age and education groups. The overview correctly notes that women aged 75 and over spent the most time on leisure, and that the youngest group recorded the lowest household figure. Several details are also accurate, including the 6.9 hours for work among 15–19-year-olds and the education figures of 20.0, 43.1, 38.9, 27.4 and 28.6 hours. However, the overview is incomplete: it misses the broad patterns that work generally rises into middle age before falling, and that leisure tends to increase with age and decrease with educational attainment. The claim that women aged 25 or over allocated time to attending college or pursuing degrees is not supported by this chart, which reports activities rather than current study. Develop the main trends more fully and avoid unsupported interpretations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, an age-group paragraph and an education paragraph. Phrases such as “Turning to the age categories” and “With regard to the educational attainment” help signal the shift between sections, and the reader can generally follow the comparisons. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some features of stronger progression. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical, with repeated “Moreover” and “Furthermore,” and some references are unclear. For example, “most of them” could refer to women with less than a high-school diploma, but the sentence does not make the comparison explicit. Group related trends more systematically and use clearer links between figures and the groups they describe.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of chart-related vocabulary, including “average hours,” “household activities,” “educational attainment,” “accounted for” and “peaked.” These choices make the topic understandable, and you vary some reporting verbs. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or repetitive. “Females” and “womens” are used repeatedly where “women” would be more natural, while “Female students who pursued bachelor's degree” mislabels the group: the chart refers to women by educational attainment, not necessarily students. “Constituted at” is also an awkward collocation, and “working and work related or leisure” makes the comparison difficult to interpret. Choose precise chart language and use natural collocations when describing values and groups.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while” and “who,” and most of the intended meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur. In “womens aged 75 or over,” the plural form is incorrect; “women aged 75 or over” is needed. The sentence “For senior females aged over 55 spent their time…” has no grammatical subject structure, and “for 25 to 34 age category” is missing an article and a clearer prepositional pattern. There are also problems with agreement and sentence construction in “The household activities noted the lowest figures … reaching the lowest point at 10.7 hours.” Work on complete sentence patterns, articles, and plural forms, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
