Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Average hours per week women spent in selected primary activities, by age and educational attainment, 2009
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The bar graph compares the average weekly hours devoted by females of different age groups and educational level in some primary activities during 2009.
Overall, the leisure hours of eldest and youngest age group females were considerably higher than other activities. Also, with the increase in level of education, the hours allocated on leisure reduced.
It is apparent that the time spent by women aged 75& over on leisure and sports was the maximum accounting for 57.7 hours followed by 44 hours devoted by 65 to 74 and 36.2 hours by 55 to 64 age groups on the same. The youngest females allocated 36.8 hours on it while the figure was between 26 and 33 hours for age groups 20 to 24, 25 to 34, 35 to 44 and 45 to 54.Hours spent on working and work related activities more than 20 hours in all age brackets except the youngest and the two eldest age groups. On household activities, the hours devoted increased with age from 6 to 21 hours.
However, time allocation the household activities reduced with increase in education level from 20 to 15 hours and this same order was followed by leisure and sports hours.Notably,it reversed in case of work and work related activities with females having Bachelor's degree and higher spending 27.4 hours on it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the chart’s main contrasts, including the rise in leisure time with age at the older end and the decline in leisure as educational attainment increases. You also report several useful figures and note that work-related hours are highest among women with a bachelor’s degree or higher. However, one important figure is inaccurate: the 75-and-over group spent 51.7 hours on leisure, not 57.7. The statement that work exceeded 20 hours in all age groups except three is broadly accurate, but the age pattern could be described more precisely, including the peak around ages 25–54 and the sharp fall after 55. The education comparisons are relevant but brief. More accurate reporting and fuller development of the key patterns would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, an age-based comparison, and a final paragraph on educational attainment. This makes the two chart categories easy to follow, and transitions such as “Overall,” “It is apparent,” and “However” help signal shifts. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The final paragraph begins “However” even though it introduces a related comparison rather than a clear contrast, and “this same order” does not clearly identify which figures or trend it refers to. Several long sequences of information are packed into single sentences, particularly the leisure comparison across age groups. Grouping figures into clearer comparisons and using more precise referencing would make the progression more fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of chart-reporting vocabulary, including “allocated,” “devoted,” “accounting for,” and “time spent,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts to vary phrasing rather than repeat one verb throughout. Some word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “hours allocated on leisure,” “the hours devoted increased,” and “time allocation the household activities.” “Females” is understandable, but “women” is more natural and consistent in this context. The phrase “the maximum” is also less precise than describing the figure as the highest. Improving collocations and choosing more exact expressions for trends would make the vocabulary more flexible and natural while preserving the clear meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including comparisons and clauses such as “with the increase in level of education” and “with females having a Bachelor’s degree and higher spending 27.4 hours.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors are noticeable. For example, “Overall, the” and “Also, with” need spaces after commas, while “Hours spent on working and work related activities more than 20 hours” lacks a main verb; it should say that the hours “were more than 20.” The construction “time allocation the household activities reduced” also needs a preposition and clearer sentence structure. More consistent control of articles, prepositions, and complete clauses would improve accuracy.
