Student answer (Band 6.0)
THE GIVEN BAR CHART DEPICTS THE MEAN HOURS THAT A FEMALES IN DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS AND FEMALES WITH DIFFERENT EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT SPEND ON PRIMARY ACTIVITIES PER WEEK. THE PRIMARY PRIMARY ACTIVITIES ARE DIVIDED INTO 3 CATEGORIES, I.E. WORKING AND WORK RELATED ACTIVITIES, LEISURE AND SPORTS, AND HOUSEHOLD ACTIVITIES.
FROM THE GIVEN GRAPH WE CAN CLEARY SAY THAT IN EVERY AGE GROUP, LEISURE AND SPORTS CONSUMED THE MOST HOURS PER WEEK. IN AGE GROUPS 15 TO 19 - 6.9, 36.8, 6.0 HOURS; IN 20 TO 24 - 22.1, 22.7,10.0 HOURS; IN 25 TO 34 - 27.0, 28.6, 13.2 HOURS; IN 35 TO 44 - 26.3, 27.4,16.7 HOURS; IN 45 TO 54 - 27.3, 32.2, 17.3 HOURS; IN 55 TO 64 - 20.9, 36.2, 18.3 HOURS; IN 65 TO 74 - 6.9, 44.0, 21.1 HOURS; AND IN 75 AND OVER - 1.3, 51.7, 19.5 HOURS, ARE THE CORRESPPNDING TIMES OF HOW DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS SPEND THEIR TIME ON THE 3 PRIMARY ACTIVITIES. IT IS ALSO EVIDENT THAT HOUSEHOLD ACTIVITIES HAVE A LINEAR INCREASE IN HOURS SPENDING AS THE GRAPHS MOVE TOWARDS A HIGHRER AGE GROUP, WHEREAS, HOURS SPEND ON WORK AND WORK RELATED ACTIVITIES, SOMEWHAT FORMS A PARABOLIC SHAPE WIRH THE HIFHRST POINT IN THE AGE GROUP 45 TO 54.
CHECKING THE DATA OF HOURS SPEND BY FEMALES BASED ON THEIR EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION PAINTS A SIMILAR PICTURE.FEMALES WITH LESS THAT A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA - 10.7, 43.5, 20.0 HOURS; HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE, NO COLLEGE - 16.7, 38.9, 18.6 HOURS; SOME COLLEGE OR ASSOCIATE DEGREE - 23.3, 32.4, 16.7 HOURS; AND BACHELOR'S DEGREE AND HIGHER - 27.4, 28.6, 15.2 HOURS, ARE THE RESPECTIVE HOURS SPEND ON THE 3 DIVISIONS IN PRIMARY WORK. IT CAN BE CLEARLY SEEN THAT LEISURE AND SPORTS STILL CONSUMES THE MOST TIME IN EVERY EDUCATIONAL LEVEL WITH A DOWNWARD TREND AS FEMALES REACH HIGHER LEVEL OF EDUCATION, ADDITIONALLY, WORKING AND WORK RELATED ACTIVITIES SHOW A POSITIVE LINEAR TREND WITH HIGHRER LEVELS OF EDUCATION. HOUSEHOLD ACTIVITIES DECREASES SLIGHLTY WITH EVERY HIGHER LEVEL OF EDUCATION.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the chart’s three activity categories and report several important patterns, including leisure being the largest category across both age and education groups, work peaking in middle age, and household time generally rising with age. However, some figures are inaccurate: for ages 20–24, leisure is 32.7 rather than 22.7; for ages 45–54, work is 27.0 rather than 27.3; and the education figures include 43.1, 19.6 and 19.6 where you give 43.5, 18.6 and 18.6. The claim that household time increases linearly with age is also too broad, since it falls from 21.1 to 19.6 in the oldest groups. A concise overview and more selective, accurate comparisons would make the key features clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the chart, discusses age groups, and then turns to educational attainment. This helps the reader follow the two sets of data. However, the age paragraph is dominated by a long list of figures, which interrupts the explanation of the main trends. Some linking is mechanical, particularly repeated openings such as “It is also evident” and “It can be clearly seen.” The overview is embedded within the detail rather than clearly separated, and the final paragraph combines several comparisons in a dense sequence. Grouping related trends and using a distinct overview would improve progression, while more varied and precise referencing would make the connections between points smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “educational attainment,” “downward trend,” and “working and work related activities,” so the topic is generally clear. There is also some attempt to describe patterns with terms such as “linear increase” and “parabolic shape.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “a females,” “hours spend,” “primary work,” and “consumes the most hours” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Spelling errors such as “cleary,” “correspponding,” and “slighlty” also reduce control. Aim for standard collocations used in data reporting, such as “time spent on household activities” and “the highest figure,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple statements and more complex comparisons, for example the sentence contrasting household time with work-related activity. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening has an article and agreement problem in “a females,” while “hours spending” and “hours spend” show difficulty forming participial phrases. In “Household activities decreases,” the plural subject does not agree with the verb, and “as females reach higher level” is missing an article and plural marking. Several data-list sentences are also fragments rather than complete sentences. Practise building concise sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement, and verb forms when revising.
