Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You provide a relevant overview, identifying leisure as the leading activity in most age groups and noting that leisure time is higher among older women and women with less education. Several figures are accurately selected, including the 51.7-hour peak for women aged 75 and over and the education-group leisure figures. However, the overview is not fully precise: household activities are not consistently the lowest category, since leisure is lower for some working-age groups, and the claim that older women generally spend more time on leisure needs qualification because the figure falls between the youngest and middle age groups before rising. There is also a factual error: leisure for ages 55–64 is 36.2 hours, not 38.7. Include the work trend by age and clarify the household pattern to make the coverage more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response is organised effectively into an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for age and educational attainment. This gives the reader a clear route through the chart, and phrases such as “Looking at the age groups” and “Regarding educational attainment” signal the shift in focus. The information within each section is generally sequenced sensibly, moving through age bands and then education levels. To make the progression more consistently clear, connect comparisons more explicitly—for example, explain how the leisure figures change from younger to middle-aged groups before rising among older women. Some transitions between figures are abrupt, and the overview’s broad statements are not always clearly linked to the detailed evidence that follows.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use an adequate range of chart-related vocabulary, including “educational attainment,” “work-related activities,” “qualifications,” and “the highest recorded value.” These choices help communicate the main comparisons, and repetition of the activity categories is appropriate for this task. There are, however, some imprecise or awkward expressions: “leisure and sport” is less natural than “leisure and sports,” while “household tasks” shifts from the chart’s category label and “the aged 25-34” is an unnatural way to refer to an age group. The spelling “bechelor's” also detracts from accuracy. Aim for consistent, precise labels and check spelling; a few more varied comparison terms would also improve flexibility without sacrificing clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a clear contrast in “compared with 6.9 hours on work-related activities” and a subordinate clause in “before increasing to…” Most sentences communicate the intended comparisons, but some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. In “women aged 15-19 spent …, compared with … and …,” the list needs consistent punctuation, and “leisure time decreased among the aged 25-34” has an incomplete or awkwardly formed reference to the group. There are also missing spaces after commas and full stops, and inconsistent capitalisation at sentence beginnings, such as “leisure” and “household.” These errors rarely prevent understanding, but careful editing and more controlled sentence construction would improve accuracy.
