Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the chart’s main pattern that leisure takes the most time, particularly among older women, and note that work is highest for women with higher education. However, some figures and comparisons are inaccurate: the 65–74 group is reported as “65 to 54,” the peak work figures are given as 27.3 and 27.0 rather than 27.0 for both relevant age groups, and household time for teenagers is 6.0, not 5.0 hours. The education comparison also misstates high-school graduates’ work time (16.7, not 13.7 hours). The overview’s claim that household time is similar across education levels overlooks a clear range from 15.2 to 20.0 hours. The age trends are more fully covered than the education data, which needs further accurate comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, an age-group paragraph and an education paragraph. This gives the reader a logical route through the chart, and transitions such as “In contrast,” “Meanwhile” and “Regarding” help signal comparisons. The overview also usefully previews the main patterns. However, the education paragraph is very brief compared with the age discussion, so the coverage feels uneven. Some linking and punctuation are awkward, particularly “per week.finally” and “Regarding at educational levels,” which interrupt the flow. Develop the education comparison with the leisure and household figures as well as work, and use paragraph transitions and sentence boundaries consistently to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a suitable range of chart vocabulary, including “average number,” “spent,” “increased,” “dropping sharply” and “in contrast.” These choices communicate the main trends, and the response generally uses an appropriate formal tone. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise: “employment hours” is less exact than “working and work-related activities,” while “at educational levels” and “a minimal 5.0 hours” are awkward. There are also spelling errors such as “wth” and “bechelor,” and “leisure activities was” reflects an incorrect word form/agreement choice. Aim for precise labels from the chart and check spelling and collocations; this would make the vocabulary more reliable without needing unnecessarily complex wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, for example “In contrast, employment hours were highest … before dropping sharply” and “household tasks increased steadily with age.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical and punctuation errors reduce accuracy. The opening of the overview begins with lowercase “overall,” and “per week.finally” lacks a sentence break and capitalisation. In “leisure activities was highest,” the plural subject requires “were”; “27.3hours” also needs spacing and clearer punctuation. The final education sentence is a fragment after the full stop in “per week. which,” and “which was a double the time” has an incorrect article and construction. Review agreement, sentence boundaries, and article use, while retaining the complex comparisons you already attempt.
