Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify a genuine overall feature: leisure and sports take the most time across both age and education groups, and you give several relevant figures to support this. However, the report is only partial because it omits household activities entirely, despite their clear age-related rise and their comparatively high figures among less-educated women. Some details are also inaccurate: women aged 45–54 worked 27.0 hours, not 27.3, and the age-group leisure figures are described as “going down” without noting the later increase among older groups. Include an overview covering all three activities and compare the main patterns across both sets of categories; this would make the key features clearer and more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, a paragraph on leisure and sports, and a later paragraph on work-related activities. The reader can generally follow the shift from age groups to educational attainment, and phrases such as “First of all” and “Secondly” signal sequencing. However, progression is not consistently clear: the opening paragraph does not establish a concise overview, and the report moves between categories without a complete, balanced plan. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, as in “Although in aged 45 to 54…” and “On the last…”. Group the information into clear comparisons, use transitions that express the actual relationship between figures, and give household activities a logical place in the structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “leisure & sports,” “educational attainment,” “hours per week,” and “spent,” so the topic is usually identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the report less precise, such as “age numbers,” “educational parameters,” “on top,” and “more interest” for time spent. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “permormed,” “activies,” “leisre,” and “agd.” Prefer neutral, accurate reporting language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe groups as “women aged 75 and over” and say they “recorded the highest figure,” rather than using informal ranking expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentences and comparisons, but the range is limited and complex constructions are often faulty. Examples include “The chart compares a survey where women's activities recorded in 2009,” which lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “Although in aged 45 to 54, 35 to 44 and 25 to 34, the numbers shows…,” where the clause is incomplete and the subject–verb agreement is incorrect. Other problems include “75 & over aged women” and inconsistent sentence punctuation, including the comma sequence “Although,,”. Use straightforward, complete sentences as a foundation, check that each clause has a subject and verb, and maintain consistent past-tense reporting. Then add more varied comparisons once these forms are controlled.
