Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response identifies the chart’s general subject and attempts an overview, but it reports the main features inaccurately and incompletely. In particular, leisure does not decline throughout: it falls from 36.8 hours among 15–19-year-olds to 27.4 for ages 35–44, then rises to 51.7 among women aged 75 and over. The claim that older women spend the most time on work-related activities confuses the 51.7-hour leisure figure with work; the highest work figure is 27.4 hours for women with a bachelor’s degree or higher. The education data are almost entirely omitted, and “Women with aged 25 or more had quite good numbers” gives no clear comparison. Select accurate peaks and overall patterns, and cover both age and education groups.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph with selected figures. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the response moves from broad trends to age-group details without a clear organising principle, then ends abruptly with the vague statement “Women with aged 25 or more had quite good numbers as well.” Linking phrases such as “However” and “Along with that” are attempted, but they do not consistently show the relationship between the ideas, and “Along with that” is repeated. Group the overview separately, then compare age patterns and educational attainment in a logical order. Use clear references and transitions to connect comparisons rather than relying on repeated linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant chart vocabulary, including “average number of hours,” “leisure and sports,” “household activity,” and “working related activity.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, making parts of the report unclear. “The numbers of leisure and sports” is not a natural way to describe time spent, while “accounted greatest numbers” is repeated and does not clearly express the comparison. “Quite good numbers” is vague and unsuitable for reporting data. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “activies” and “numners.” Use precise terms such as “hours spent,” “the highest figure,” and “increased,” and check spelling and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, for example, “However, household activity experienced rose from youngsters to elders,” but the verb pattern is faulty and the intended trend is difficult to understand. Errors also appear in age-group descriptions and sentence construction: “Women with aged 20-24 had around…” and “elder women with aged 75 or more” are not grammatically formed. Articles and plural forms are inconsistent, as in “the greatest numbers” and “their most of time.” Some simple statements remain understandable, but the limited range and recurring errors reduce clarity. Practise accurate comparative structures, such as “Women aged 20–24 spent…” and “the figure rose from… to…,” and check verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries.
