Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the chart’s broad subject and include some relevant comparisons, such as work hours being about 26–27 for women aged 25–54 and leisure reaching roughly 52 hours among those aged 75 and over. However, the overview is unclear and includes a misleading claim: household activity is not higher than the other activities for women aged 45–75; leisure is higher. The education section also misreports the figures: 27.4 hours belongs to work for degree holders, while 10.7 is for work among women with less than a high-school diploma, not high-school graduates. Several important patterns are omitted or only briefly stated. The response is 134 words, below the required 150, which further limits its coverage. Develop an accurate overview and compare the education groups more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, useful structure: an introduction, an overview, an age-group paragraph and a paragraph on education. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “By comparison” and “In term of education” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is uneven: the age paragraph moves between work, leisure and household figures without consistently explaining the comparisons, while the final education paragraph lists a few numbers without a clear pattern. The overview sentence about household activities is difficult to interpret and disrupts the flow. Use clearer topic sentences and group related comparisons—for example, describe how work and leisure change with age, then summarise the education trends. More precise referencing would also make the relationships between figures easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “average number of hours,” “work related activities,” “Leisure time” and “approximately,” so the reader can recognise the topic and some comparisons. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, including “housholds,” “ralated,” “activeties” and “bechelor.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “In age 45 to 75 over womens” and “approximately time 26 to 27 hours.” Use standard chart language and accurate category names, such as “women aged 45–74” and “spent approximately 26–27 hours.” Check spelling carefully, and distinguish “household activities” from “leisure and sports” when describing the series.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few different sentence forms, including a comparison introduced by “By comparison” and a longer sentence describing leisure hours across age groups. Some sentences are understandable, but grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. For example, “In age 45 to 75 over womens housholds activities higher then other womens” lacks a clear subject–verb structure and a complete comparison. “Bachelor degree and higher degree 27.4 hours” is also a fragment, while “women aged spent” has an incorrect word order. Work on complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals and prepositions. A reliable pattern is: “Women aged 25–34 spent 27 hours per week on work-related activities.”
