Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the chart’s broad subject and correctly note that leisure and sports exceed work for several age groups and education categories. However, the response reports only a small part of the data: it stops at ages 35–44 and does not describe the older age groups or the bachelor’s-degree category. It also gives no meaningful overview of the contrasting trends—for example, leisure rises to 51.7 hours among women aged 75 and over, while work falls to 1.3 hours; household activity generally increases with age. Some comparisons are vague, such as “spent their most time,” without figures or clear contrasts. The response is 143 words, below the 150-word minimum. Select the main trends and support them with accurate comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic sequence: you discuss several age groups, introduce a conclusion with “Now by conclusing,” and then move to education categories. This gives the reader some sense of the chart’s two sections. However, the response is presented as one long, loosely connected paragraph, and the repeated pattern “women spent their most time” makes the progression difficult to follow. The overview is inserted midway through the age discussion rather than clearly separated from supporting details, and the education section ends abruptly without covering all categories. Use distinct paragraphs for an overview, age comparisons, and education comparisons, and connect points through clear contrasts such as “by comparison” or “whereas.”
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the chart’s main activity categories, including “leisure and sports,” “working,” and “house hold activities.” You also attempt task-related phrases such as “educational attainment.” However, the range is basic and repetitive, especially the repeated wording “spent their most time(s),” and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “the result is found” and “most times in leisure.” Spelling and word-form issues such as “conclusing,” “associates,” and “house hold” also reduce accuracy. Build a small range of precise reporting language—for example, “devoted,” “recorded,” “accounted for,” and “rose”—and use standard forms such as “household activities” and “associate degree.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You make an effort to form connected sentences, and the reader can generally understand which age groups and activities you mean. However, sentence structures are very repetitive and mostly simple, with frequent errors in articles, word order, agreement, and punctuation. For example, “There is a graph given which shows that women spent in selected primary activities” lacks a grammatical construction after “spent,” while “Age of 20 to 24 women” has an awkward noun phrase. The opening also runs into the next sentence without a full stop, and “women spent their most times” has an incorrect plural construction. Practise accurate comparative sentence patterns, such as “Women aged 20–24 spent more time on leisure than on work,” and punctuate each sentence clearly.
