Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the three activities and make some relevant comparisons, including the low working figure for teenagers and the general prominence of leisure among older women. However, the response does not provide a clear, accurate overview of the chart’s main patterns, and several comparisons are incomplete or misleading. For example, the claim that women aged 55 to 75 or over spend “57.7 hour” on leisure is not supported: the figures range from 36.2 to 51.7 hours across those age groups. The education comparison also says leisure is highest for all groups, but does not report the contrasting rise in work hours with higher attainment. Develop a concise overview and select accurate key figures; 11 words copied from the prompt were excluded from the length count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: the response moves from age groups to educational attainment, and sequencing words such as “firstly,” “while” and “from” help signal comparisons. However, progression within the age section is difficult to follow because several age ranges and activities are combined in long, loosely connected sentences. The education paragraph is especially compressed and ends without a clear comparison or concluding point. Punctuation and spacing also make boundaries unclear, as in “each week.working” and the run-on descriptions of the age groups. Use separate paragraphs for the two chart categories, and organise each around a clear trend, supported by a small number of figures and explicit comparison links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant chart vocabulary, including “average,” “activities,” “leisure and sports,” and “household activities,” so the reader can generally identify the subject. However, the range is limited and several repeated or inaccurate expressions reduce clarity. Phrases such as “most of the womans spend their time” and “the least of time is given” are imprecise, while “white cube” and “little grey” do not describe the chart’s bars naturally. Spelling errors such as “activites,” “liesure,” and “graduest” are noticeable. Aim for accurate trend language and standard collocations, for example “spent the most time on leisure” and “the figure for household activities.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences and use some time and comparison phrases, but grammatical control is inconsistent. Subject–verb agreement is often incorrect, as in “woman spends” and “most woman spends,” and plural forms are needed when referring to groups. Verb forms are also faulty in “are spended” and “is spend.” Several sentences lack clear structure or punctuation, particularly the long sentence beginning “From the age of 20 to 34,” which makes the relationship between the figures hard to follow. Use straightforward, complete sentences with consistent past tense for the 2009 data, and check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries before adding more complex clauses.
