Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the three activities and report several figures for the age groups from 15–19 to 65–74, so the response is relevant to the chart. However, the coverage is incomplete: you omit the 75-and-over group and all four educational-attainment categories, which are a major part of the chart. There is also no clear overview of the main patterns; instead, the response moves through age groups one by one and adds unsupported explanations such as women gaining “maturity” or “realising their responsibilities.” Some figures are inaccurate, including work hours for ages 35–44 and 45–54. To improve, give a concise overview of the strongest trends, cover both chart sections, and report comparisons without speculating about causes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows a recognisable sequence through the age groups, and phrases such as “as we move forward” help signal transitions. This gives the reader some sense of progression. However, the organisation is largely one long paragraph, with repeated transitions and a mechanical, list-like structure. The repeated “as we move forward” pattern does not group related information or highlight the chart’s main comparisons, and the response stops before completing the age data. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and the key details, and group age trends together before comparing educational levels. More varied linking and clearer references would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use basic chart-related vocabulary such as “working time,” “leisure time,” “increased,” and “decreased,” which allows the reader to understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors make the writing harder to read: examples include “liesure,” “suports,” “thier,” and “househol.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “much more important works” and “due to over age the reduced working time.” Aim for accurate spelling and use a wider set of precise terms for describing data, such as “accounted for,” “rose,” “declined,” and “reached a peak.” Avoid interpreting the figures with vague or unsupported wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example by using “as we move forward” and clauses beginning with “because,” so there is some effort to extend sentence structure. However, the response relies heavily on run-on sentences, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms are frequent. For instance, “working activities of this age group is increased 27 hour” has problems with agreement and sentence construction, while “women realises” does not match the plural subject. Commas and full stops are often missing, making several sentences difficult to process. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them accurately using a range of clauses and appropriate punctuation.
