Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response recognises that the chart concerns women’s activities, but it does not accurately summarise the data or provide a reliable overview. Several claims conflict with the chart: women aged 15–19 spend 6 hours on household activities, not almost 36; the 45–54 group does not have the most leisure time; and women aged 75 and over still report 19.6 hours of household activities, rather than none. The discussion also invents details about marriage, schoolwork, gossiping and financial support, which the chart does not show. To improve, report the main patterns across the three activities—for example, leisure rises among older age groups, while work peaks in middle age—and compare education groups using the actual figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is an attempt to separate an introduction from an overview, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “However” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the response does not progress through the chart in a clear order: it moves between age groups, education levels and unsupported social commentary. The long overview paragraph contains many separate claims without grouping or prioritising them, so the reader cannot easily identify the main comparisons. Some transitions also introduce ideas that do not logically follow. Organise the report into a brief introduction, a concise overview, and body paragraphs that separately compare age groups and educational attainment. Use linking words only where they clarify a genuine relationship between data points.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “household activities,” “working” and “sports,” and attempts to describe time and responsibility. However, word choice is often inaccurate or unsuitable for a factual chart report. Phrases such as “peak stage at the marriage,” “pleasure time to rest” and “lead their community” add unsupported interpretation rather than describing the figures. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “varrying,” “femals,” “palenty” and “responsibilty.” Aim for precise, neutral terms such as “leisure time,” “hours spent on work” and “household tasks.” Reusing the chart’s category labels accurately is preferable to adding elaborate but unclear expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly in the longer sentences. Examples include “the average numbers of hours thats the women … which is spent,” where agreement and clause structure are faulty, and “the women … have have a lot,” which repeats the verb. Other examples include “the girls … works” and “the women … they have no household activity,” showing problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. Punctuation and sentence boundaries also make the extended overview difficult to follow. Practise building accurate short comparison sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses—for example, “Women aged 75 and over spent 51.7 hours on leisure, the highest figure among the age groups.”
