Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Average hours per week women spent in selected primary activities, by age and educational attainment, 2009
Student answer (Band 4.5)
A bar chart is given that is describing how women were involved in different activites and educational attainment average hour per week and comparison is given between different ages. As we know that young girls are mostly active in playing different games and sports. In the year 2009 girls having age between 15 to 19 were mostly involved in playing sports and less active in productive works. The ages above 25 women spent there time in getting high school diploma and got in the competition for higher education. If we focus on the women that were above 40 had got there most time in excercises. Because a daily excercise is benefitial for an elderly aged person. As at last a summary can be extracted from this graph that the routine and spenditures changes as accordint to age. And an hourly routine was much busy for a middle aged women in 2009 as she had to work all day long.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response recognises the chart’s broad subject and mentions age, work and leisure, but it does not accurately summarise the data. For example, it says women over 25 spent time “getting high school diploma” and entering higher education; the chart instead compares activity hours by age and, separately, by educational attainment. The claim that women above 40 spent most time exercising is also inaccurate: leisure is highest for women aged 75 and over, while women aged 45–54 spend more time working than on leisure. The final statement about middle-aged women working all day is not supported by the figures. To improve, give a clear overview of the main patterns and support it with accurate comparisons, such as leisure rising among older age groups and work peaking around ages 25–54.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic sequence from introducing the chart to discussing age groups and ending with a summary, and phrases such as “If we focus” and “As at last” attempt to guide the reader. However, the ideas do not progress as a clear data summary: the response shifts from activities to education, then to exercise advice, without explaining how these points relate to the chart. There are no distinct paragraphs to separate an overview from supporting details, and several links are awkward or unclear. Organise the response into an introduction, a concise overview, and one or two detail paragraphs. Use comparisons to connect related figures, rather than adding general comments about what women should do.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “sports,” “productive works,” “higher education,” and “routine,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or imprecise: “productive works” does not clearly describe the chart’s work-related category, “getting high school diploma” misrepresents the educational-attainment data, and “exercises” is used where the chart refers to leisure and sports. Spelling errors such as “activites,” “benefitial,” and “accordint” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for describing charts, using terms such as “hours spent on,” “work-related activities,” “household tasks,” and “leisure time,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, including “If we focus on the women that were above 40…” and a concluding sentence beginning “And an hourly routine…”. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors can make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “A bar chart is given that is describing,” “girls having age between 15 to 19 were,” and “women spent there time”; these show problems with clause construction, verb forms, and possessive forms. Articles and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “a middle aged women.” Aim for direct, controlled sentences: for example, “The chart compares the weekly hours women spent on three activities by age and education level.” Then check subject–verb agreement, tense, and sentence boundaries.
