Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several relevant extremes, including the 75-and-over group’s highest leisure figure and the 65–74 group’s peak in household activities. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: women aged 45–54 do not spend the most time working; the highest age-group figure is 27 hours, shared by those aged 25–34 and 45–54, while women with a bachelor’s degree or higher record 27.4 hours. The claim that women aged 20–54 spend most time in work-related activities is also too broad, since leisure exceeds work for several of these groups. Your discussion of education is limited to one leisure comparison and omits the clear pattern that work rises with educational attainment while leisure falls. Select accurate overall trends and support them with comparisons across both categories.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an opening, an overview, and two detail paragraphs, so there is some basic organisation. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview combines age and education findings in one long sequence, and the later paragraphs do not develop the chart systematically. For example, the sentence about women aged 20 to 54 moves from work to leisure without clearly explaining the comparison, while the final paragraph gives only one educational figure. Linking is also limited and sometimes awkward, as in “While other groups spends…” and the repeated use of “most time.” Group the age data together, then compare educational attainment, using clear transitions and references so each paragraph has a distinct purpose.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary such as “age groups,” “educational attainment,” “working and work related activities,” and “leisure and sports,” which makes the topic recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. Phrases such as “spend highest time,” “largest tine,” and “household work” are not natural descriptions of the data; “time spent” and “household activities” would be more appropriate. There are also spelling errors, including “leasure” and “accout,” which reduce precision. Aim to vary reporting language with expressions such as “recorded,” “accounted for,” and “rose to,” while checking spelling and using the chart’s category labels consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including a contrast beginning “While,” but control is inconsistent and errors occur frequently. The opening construction “illustrates that how many hours” is ungrammatical; use “shows how many hours” or “illustrates the number of hours.” There are also agreement and verb-form problems in “women age,” “Time on household work were,” and “other groups spends.” Missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent punctuation further affect readability. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, and the attempted complex sentences are often faulty. Practise accurate comparisons using structures such as “Women aged 65–74 spent more time on household activities than…” and check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
