Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify leisure and sports as the leading activity overall and household work as relatively low, and you include one accurate figure: women with a bachelor’s degree or higher spend 27.4 hours working. However, the overview is too broad and partly misleading: household activities are not consistently the lowest, since older women and those with less education spend more time on them than on work. The age-group comparison of “teenages and midlle age” at about 30 hours is unclear and does not accurately summarise the range; leisure rises to 51.7 hours among women aged 75 and over. The education section also lacks comparisons across qualification levels. Select the clearest trends and support them with accurate figures from both groups.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a brief overview, and two detail paragraphs. Linking phrases such as “By contrast,” “Looking at the graph in more detail,” and “For the remaining figures” help signal movement between points. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The age paragraph combines broad claims without specifying which age bands they describe, while the final paragraph shifts to education but gives only one working figure and then repeats a general statement about leisure. Some references, such as “this age groups women,” are difficult to follow. Organise the details into clear age and education comparisons, and use precise references to connect each claim to the relevant group.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “average,” “leisure and sports,” “household activities,” and “educational qualifications,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “general activities,” “spend their week hours,” and “enjoying their free time.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “teenages,” “midlle,” and “bachelor degree,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the report. Use the chart’s category labels consistently and choose concise, conventional expressions for describing time and comparisons. This would make the information easier to interpret without changing the basic meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a few complex sentence patterns, for example, “However, this age groups women spend less hours…” and “For the remaining figures, the women those are divided…,” but these constructions are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in “hours spend” and “women’s spend,” while plural and article patterns are also problematic in “this age groups” and “a bachelor degree.” Several sentences are built around repeated “women spend” clauses, limiting the range and making relationships between ideas unclear. Aim for accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled comparisons using structures such as “Women aged 75 and over spent…” and “As educational attainment increased, time spent working rose.”
