Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify leisure and sports as a prominent activity and note that work-related time is low among older women, both relevant observations. However, the response is incomplete: it stops mid-sentence at “household activities and work related activities are,” so it does not provide a finished overview or report the main comparisons across the age and education groups. The claim that leisure is chosen by all women is broadly supported as it is the largest figure for most groups, but it is not true for women aged 25–34, for whom work hours are slightly lower than leisure hours. The response also falls well short of the required 150 words. To improve, complete the overview and include accurate key trends and supporting figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The opening attempts to establish an overall pattern, and the ideas are related to the chart. However, there is no clear progression beyond this initial statement: the response ends abruptly with “household activities and work related activities are,” leaving the final idea unfinished. As a result, the reader cannot follow a complete summary or see how the observations are connected. The use of “whereas” after a full stop also does not create a clear contrast in this fragment. Organise the response into a brief overview followed by comparisons of age and education, and use complete sentences and linking expressions to show how each point relates to the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses relevant topic vocabulary, including “leisure and sports,” “working and work related activities,” and “older age group,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is very limited, with repeated reliance on “activities” and “choosen,” and some word choices are imprecise: the chart reports time spent on activities rather than activities being “chosen.” Spelling errors such as “choosen” and “activites” also reduce accuracy. Use more precise reporting language and vary terms where appropriate, for example, “hours spent on,” “time devoted to,” and “household tasks.” This would make the short response clearer and more suitable for an academic chart summary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt connected statements, but the response relies on simple sentence patterns and does not demonstrate a range of structures. Several grammatical problems are visible in “all womens” and “despite of their age and education levels”; the plural form and the construction after “despite” are incorrect. The second sentence begins with “whereas” after a full stop, and the final clause is incomplete, ending with “are.” These errors make the relationships between ideas unclear and prevent the response from functioning as a complete summary. Practise accurate plural forms and sentence boundaries, and build complete comparisons using structures such as “while” or “whereas” within a full sentence.
