Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s three activities and provide an overview, noting that leisure is generally the largest category and that work peaks among women with a bachelor’s degree or higher. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear. For age groups, work is highest at 45–54 (27.0 hours), but it is also almost as high at 25–34 and 35–44; household activity peaks at 65–74 (21.1), not 55–64. The claim that leisure rises to 44 hours in the 75-and-over group is incorrect: it reaches 51.7, while 44.0 belongs to ages 65–74. The education comparison is incomplete, and “undergraduate students” mislabels the degree group. Select the main patterns more accurately and compare both sets of categories.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing age and educational attainment. This gives the reader some guidance through the chart. However, progression within the body is uneven, and several long sentences combine multiple trends without clear separation. For example, the sentence beginning “Spend the time on lesure and sports” moves from leisure to household activities and then work, making the comparisons difficult to follow. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” are repeated or do not always signal a genuine contrast. Use one focused paragraph for age patterns and another for education, with shorter sentences and clear comparisons between the three activities.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “average hours per week,” “peak,” “gradually,” and “increased,” and the activity categories are generally identifiable. However, spelling errors are frequent, including “avarage,” “activites,” “aducational,” and “decresed,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the report. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “spent own time on week” and “the undergraduate students” do not clearly describe the chart’s categories. “Unstady” is an informal or inaccurate choice for describing variation. Build a reliable set of trend and comparison phrases, and check spelling and category labels carefully before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, but control is inconsistent, especially when several trends are joined together. For example, “while the working and work related activites was unstady” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “Most of time for all the educational attainment was spend” contains errors in article use and verb form. The sentence about leisure “from 36.8 hours/week to 27.4 hours / week, then rose” also has an unclear structure and punctuation. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to understand. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and agreement, and divide complex comparisons into shorter sentences with a clear subject and verb.
