Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the chart’s broad subject and mention relevant categories, including leisure, work and household activities. However, the response reports very few accurate comparisons and does not give figures to support its claims. Several statements misread the data: women aged 55–64 did not spend the most time on household activities, and women with less than a high-school diploma did not spend the most time on leisure; the highest leisure figure is for those aged 75 and over. The overview also says the 45–54 group spent the most time working, although the peak is 27.4 hours among women with a bachelor’s degree or higher. To address the task more fully, give a clear overview of the main patterns and select accurate figures from both the age and education sections.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an opening, an overview-like paragraph and separate paragraphs for age and education, so there is some attempt to group information. However, progression within these sections is difficult to follow: the age paragraph lists groups without a clear organising comparison, and the education paragraph repeats that each group spent more time on sports. Linking is also sometimes confusing, as in “Whereas.” and “on the other hand,” which do not clearly connect the ideas that follow. Some references, such as “the previous,” are unclear. Organise the details around the main trends—for example, how leisure changes with age, then how work varies by education—and use linking words only where they express a clear relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “leisure and sports,” “household activities,” “working” and “education,” and the reader can generally identify the chart’s subject. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or repetitive. “Play sports” does not accurately describe the chart’s broader leisure-and-sports category, while “the rate of education” is unclear for educational attainment. Repeated use of “give more time” and “spent more time” also makes the account imprecise. Spelling slips such as “hpurs,” “Overalll” and “activies” further weaken control. Use the chart’s category labels consistently and choose precise terms such as “hours devoted to” or “time spent on.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “Whereas, 25 to 24 clearly seen…” and “In terms of education…,” but many sentences contain errors that make relationships or meanings difficult to follow. For example, “the age group 75 and over recorded spent” combines verb forms incorrectly, and “the group of 55 to 6 give more time” has problems with the subject and verb. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, particularly in “Whereas.” and the fragmentary list of age groups. Aim for complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense consistency and punctuation. A few accurate comparative sentence patterns would make the data easier to understand.
