Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the chart’s general subject and note some valid age-related patterns, including the high leisure figure among the oldest women and the rise in household activity into older age groups. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: leisure is not highest in every age group, since work exceeds leisure for women aged 25–34, 35–44 and 45–54. The claim that household activity peaks at 55–64 also misses the higher figure for ages 65–74. Most importantly, the educational-attainment data are not reported at all, despite being a major part of the chart. Several age-group figures are also confused or only loosely described. To improve, give a balanced overview of both categories and select accurate comparisons from each.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response with an introduction, an overview and a detail paragraph, and words such as “Overall,” “firstly” and “After that” signal stages in the discussion. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the final paragraph combines many age groups and three activities in one long sequence. Phrases such as “two age groups of 25 to 24 and 25-34” make the comparison unclear, and “first group” and “other” do not consistently identify which age group or activity is meant. The overview also runs several ideas together. Use separate paragraphs for age and education, and group figures by activity or by clear age ranges, with explicit references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “average number of hours,” “peaked,” “massive fall” and “household activities,” so the reader can recognise the topic and intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the account harder to understand, for example “lesuire,” “wort,” “spended,” “shcoking” and “househould.” Some expressions are also imprecise for data description: “shocking” is subjective, while “just short behind” does not clearly state the size or direction of a difference. Aim for accurate, neutral reporting language and use terms such as “rose,” “declined,” “recorded” and “approximately” to describe figures and trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts longer sentences and uses some linking clauses, but sentence structures are often faulty, and errors frequently make relationships between figures unclear. For example, “While time spent on work releated activities it varies” lacks a grammatical main clause, and “women at age group of 15 to 19 spended” has an incorrect verb form and awkward sentence pattern. The long sentence beginning “After that four age groups…” also lacks clear punctuation and becomes difficult to parse. There is some control in simpler statements such as “The bar illustrates average number of hours…,” but articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries need more consistent attention. Build shorter, complete sentences first, then add comparisons using accurate clauses.
