Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the chart’s broad subject and provide an overview, noting that leisure and sports take the largest share for women across the groups. You also describe the age pattern: leisure rises among older women, while work peaks in the middle age groups and then falls. However, the overview is not fully accurate: household activities are not generally the least-used category, since leisure is lower for several working-age and highly educated groups. Some details are also misreported; for example, high-school graduates recorded 19.6 hours for household activities, not 18.6. The education comparisons are less developed than the age discussion, and the claim that work and household time both rise with education needs clearer support. Select the main contrasts more precisely and use accurate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, an age-group paragraph and an education paragraph. This gives the reader a logical route through the chart, and phrases such as “In term of age” and “Regarding levels of education” help signal the shift in focus. The age paragraph also presents the broad trend in a sensible sequence. To make the progression more effective, connect comparisons more explicitly and avoid relying on repeated “while” constructions. The education paragraph, for instance, moves from women without a diploma to graduates and then degree holders, but the comparisons between these groups are not fully spelled out. Clearer links between the categories would make the organisation feel more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “average number of hours,” “educational attainment,” “decreased gradually,” and “increased sharply,” so the main trends are generally understandable. However, the range and precision are limited by repeated wording such as “spent most hours” and “activities,” as well as awkward collocations like “in term of age” and “spent most of the time in leisure and sports activity.” There are also spelling errors, including “gours,” “activites,” “eductation,” and “shool,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural reporting phrases and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “time devoted to” and “the highest figure” would help you describe comparisons without repeating the same expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons joined with “while,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “least time was spend,” the passive form should be “the least time was spent”; similarly, “6 and 6.9 hours per week was spend” needs a plural subject and the correct participle. The sentence beginning “By 20 to 54” also lacks a clear grammatical subject, and the following sentence begins with a lowercase “by” after a full stop. Articles and sentence boundaries need more consistent control. Practise forming accurate comparisons with a clear subject, such as “From ages 20 to 54, leisure time fell while work hours generally increased.”
