Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important patterns, including the rise and later fall in work-related hours across age groups, the increase in leisure time among older women, and the opposing education trends for work and leisure. However, the overview is not clearly separated or fully developed, and some figures or descriptions are inaccurate: work peaks at 27.0 hours for women aged 25–34 and 45–54, not 27.3 hours up to age 54; leisure does not simply rise after age 44, as it falls to 32.2 hours for ages 45–54 before increasing. The household trend by age is left vague, and the opening incorrectly gives the year as 2019 rather than 2009. Select the clearest overall comparisons and report them accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some organisation: it first discusses age groups and then turns to educational attainment, which gives the reader a basic route through the chart. Linking phrases such as “First,” “Then,” and “In addition” also help signal relationships. However, there is no clear overview paragraph, and the age discussion moves between work, leisure and household activities without consistently grouping the main comparisons. Some references are unclear, as in “until subjects are 54 year old,” and the final paragraph combines several education trends in a compressed way. Use a brief overview followed by one paragraph on age and one on education, with clearer transitions and explicit comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “increased,” “declining,” “fluctuated,” and “higher education level,” so the reader can generally understand the trends you intend to describe. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “ellustrated,” “relaed,” “lesure,” and “leisures.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “average amount of hours used” and “highest number of leisures and sports were enjoyed” do not describe the data clearly. Prefer standard collocations such as “average hours spent” and “the most time was devoted to leisure and sports.” More accurate terms for the chart categories and consistent spelling would make the report clearer and more appropriate in style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, for example, “Then it started declining and went to 1.3 hour when they turned 75 and over.” However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. Examples include “women’s work … increased … until subjects are 54 year old,” where the subject and tense are unclear, and “household activities lessened … once they are having,” which has an incorrect verb pattern and tense. There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence boundaries, such as “1.3 hour” and the run-on after “75+ women.” Build more reliable sentences with clear subjects, consistent past tense for the 2009 data, and accurate clause punctuation before attempting longer structures.
