Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only partially. While you correctly identify the general subject matter of the bar chart, such as the activities and demographic groups, you fail to report key data points, figures, or meaningful comparisons. The summary relies heavily on vague generalisations like 'most of the their time in leisure and sports' without providing specific hours or contrasting how different age groups and educational levels actually vary across the three categories. Furthermore, the overview lacks detail and key features are omitted, which keeps the response at a limited level of task completion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation in the text, with an introductory sentence followed by paragraphs discussing the age groups and educational attainment categories. However, there is no clear overall progression or logical development of ideas. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate, such as using 'While there is slight variation' without following through with a proper contrasting clause structure. Paragraphing is attempted, but referencing and transitions between sentences feel repetitive and mechanical, lacking the smooth flow needed for higher bands.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate for describing the chart context. You successfully attempt some topic-related vocabulary like 'educational attainment', 'age groups', and 'primary activities'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as 'ilustrates' instead of 'illustrates', 'discripency' instead of 'discrepancy', and repetition of phrases like 'spent of their time'. These errors and the restricted range of vocabulary cause some difficulty and prevent the response from achieving a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on straightforward or faulty complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing prepositions ('spent [most] of their time'), article misuse ('to bachelor's degree'), and run-on sentences with incorrect punctuation and agreement, such as 'almost all the the groups of women spent most of the their time'. These frequent errors require the reader to slow down and can cause difficulty, keeping your grammar score firmly at the lower end.
