Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many societies obesity has become a serious health concern. While some people argue that advertising of unhealthy food is one of the major cause and it should be banned, others believe that advertisements are not responsible for the obesity and it should remain legal. In my opinion, Advertising influences food people's choices and completely banning of advertising is not a athentic solution.

One the one hand, There are many peoples that those support banning junk food advertisments because they encourage peoples to eat junk food and, junk food is not good for our health. For example, Children often use advertisemnets for burgers, pizzas, chocolates and many other things. These advertisements encourage peoples to buy junk food that look so attractive and mostly children want to buy it. Eating too much junk food can cause weight gain and many other health problems. Therefore, Banning these advertisements may colud help people make healthy food choices.

On the other hand, Some people belive that advertisemnets of junk food is not the main reason of obesity. They think that people are responsible for their own eating habits. There are many other reasons of obesity, Like eating too much and not doing exercise , spending long hours watching televisions and mobile phones. And they beleive that if advertisements for junk food are banned, people still buy junk food from resturants.

In my opinion, Advertisements should not be completely banned and, should be some restrictions. For example, Company should not be target young children for eating junk food by advertisements and it should be restricted at least for under eighteen children. Furthermore, Parents should also encourage their children to eating fruits and vegetables.

In conclusion, I belive that completely banned of advertisements of junk food is not a athentic solution. Also, there should be restrictions on advertisements.

Parents should ecourage children to eat hygenic foods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear personal position: advertising can influence choices, but you favour restrictions rather than a complete ban. The examples of children being attracted to advertised burgers and sweets, and of other contributors such as inactivity and eating habits, are relevant to the question. However, the arguments are not developed equally: the case against banning is mostly a list of possible causes, while the benefits and practical limits of restrictions receive little explanation. The suggestion to restrict advertising to under-eighteens is also not fully clarified. To strengthen the response, explain how advertising affects children and why targeted restrictions would be more effective or fair than a total ban, using a specific example or supporting reasoning for each view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “And they believe” begins a sentence with a link that does not clearly show how the point follows, and the final sentence about parents repeats an idea from the opinion paragraph rather than adding to the conclusion. Some references, such as “they” in the paragraph about responsibility, could also be clearer. Improve progression by linking each example directly to the claim it supports and making the conclusion synthesise the two sides without repeating advice.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “obesity,” “advertisements,” “eating habits,” and “health problems.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “target young children” and “food choices.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “advertisemnets,” “belive,” “athentic,” and “hygienic foods” are examples. Repetition of “junk food,” “advertisements,” and “people” also makes the discussion less flexible. Build a more accurate set of topic expressions, such as “processed food,” “marketing campaigns,” and “contribute to weight gain,” and check spelling and natural word combinations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “While some people argue…” and a conditional sentence about what might happen if advertising were banned. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “advertising … is one of the major cause” has a number-agreement problem, while “There are many peoples that those support” is difficult to construct accurately. In “Company should not be target young children,” the verb pattern is also faulty. Capitalisation after commas and full stops is inconsistent. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
