Student answer (Band 6.5)
In past, people were healthier as they used to do more physical works as compared to today. Some believe that overweight is a major health issue. People think that advertising of fast food is causing this issue while other say it doesn't have any effect on it. In this essay we will see both views and I will give my opinion on it.
First of all, many people say because of the advertisement of fast food, its consumption has increased, which lead to excessive weight gains and causes health issues, for example diabetes and high blood pressure has increased in individual because of junk food, and now-a-days many people are easting junk food because of the multiple adds that run everywhere, on social media and billboards etc. which attracts more people to junk food instead of the healthy food which leads to many major problems, that's why advertisement of junk food should be banned.
On the other hand, according to many advertisings has not affect in the consumption of these items by individuals. As in today's time everyone is aware of junk food, and many know that it affects their health but still prefer processed food as compared to homemade healthy food, because the process of its making is not too much time taking and it's easy to make and order. So, advertisement has no effect on it and advertisement should not be banned.
In my opinion, I will say that advertisement should be blamed for this problem as it is causing major health issues in many individuals and because of advertisement people are moving more to junk food day by day.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, including both views and a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention health issues like diabetes and high blood pressure, the arguments remain quite general. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or logical explanations for why advertising is or is not the primary driver of obesity. For instance, you could discuss the psychological impact of marketing on children versus adults. The position is clear throughout, but the essay would benefit from more depth in the supporting arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'On the other hand', and 'In my opinion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there is a lack of more sophisticated linking words or referencing. Some sentences are quite long and run-on, which affects the overall coherence. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the logical progression of your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'junk food', 'advertisement', and 'health issues'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'easting' (eating) and 'adds' (ads). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. For example, instead of repeating 'junk food', you could use 'processed food products', 'calorie-dense snacks', or 'fast-food commodities'. The current range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'advertisement of fast food... lead to'), article usage (e.g., 'In past'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are overly long and lack proper clause management, which makes them difficult to read. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency would be highly beneficial.
