Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the claim that junk food 'leads to cancer' is a broad generalization that lacks specific evidence or logical connection to the advertising debate. The argument regarding 'human rights' is also underdeveloped and slightly tangential. While the prompt is addressed, the supporting points lack the depth required for a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the position, but the overall argument would benefit from more nuanced reasoning rather than relying on general statements about 'conscience'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the other hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'The conscience is crucial for this issue' or 'Thereby, i strongly agree the view'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where 'it' is used to refer to 'fast food places' in a way that confuses the subject. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the flow between sentences could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'fostering the junk food', 'getting more fat', and 'do not addict it'. The phrase 'promoting the will of junk food' is unnatural. While the student attempts to use more complex vocabulary, the lack of control over these terms often results in meaning being slightly obscured. To improve, the student should focus on learning common collocations and using more precise terminology related to health and public policy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'In the public, overweight is becoming as a worldwide issue' (incorrect preposition and verb usage), 'most of countries' (missing article), and 'i strongly agree the view' (missing preposition). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and word forms, such as 'the distinguish' instead of 'the distinction'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity and flow of the writing.
