Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length, reaching only 135 words against the 250-word requirement. This severely impacts the development of ideas. While you introduce both sides of the argument, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. Because the task is not fully addressed and the arguments are not extended or supported as required for a full essay, the score is limited. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full introduction, two well-developed body paragraphs with clear examples, and a concluding summary to meet the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows a basic attempt at paragraphing, with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the abrupt ending prevents a logical conclusion. Cohesive devices are used in a limited way (e.g., 'To begin with', 'For example', 'On the other hand'), but the lack of completion makes the overall progression unclear. To reach a higher band, you need to ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked smoothly throughout the entire essay, including a final paragraph that synthesizes your position.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. You use some relevant terms like 'obesity', 'junk food', and 'advertisements', but there are errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'junk food create obesity' (should be 'creates') and 'effects on their well being' (should be 'affects'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct word forms are used in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have several grammatical errors, such as 'it only provide information' (subject-verb agreement), 'government should take initial steps to restricted' (incorrect verb form), and 'contribute childhood obesity' (missing preposition). These errors are frequent enough to cause some distraction. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tense usage, and ensuring that complex structures are grammatically sound.
