Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, but the development of ideas is limited and often unclear. The arguments are repetitive and lack specific examples or logical evidence to support the claims. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task completion. The ideas presented, such as the claim that advertising is 'compulsory', are not well-explained, leading to a lack of depth in the discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by unclear phrasing and poor sentence structure. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'On the one hand', 'In my opinion'), they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not effectively link ideas. The referencing is sometimes confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's train of thought throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple words like 'problem', 'bad', and 'harmful'. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'counties' instead of 'countries', 'nesesory', 'ilgible', 'dilecious'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly, and the misuse of terms often impedes the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'Most of junk food are not better'), incorrect verb forms, and fragmented sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used are often riddled with errors in punctuation and syntax. These persistent errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the communication of more sophisticated arguments.
