Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, containing only 88 words. Because the essay is incomplete, it fails to address the prompt fully. The introduction attempts to outline the essay's structure, but the body paragraph is cut off mid-sentence, preventing the development of any arguments or the presentation of a clear personal opinion. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, and the position is not developed. To improve, you must ensure you complete the full essay structure, including a balanced discussion of both views and a clear conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, such as using 'To commence with' to start the first body paragraph. However, the text is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, and the abrupt ending makes it impossible to assess the overall flow or the use of referencing. To achieve a higher score, you need to write full paragraphs that connect ideas logically using a variety of linking words and ensure the essay reaches a coherent conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and collocation. For example, 'pensive problem' is an incorrect usage; 'pensive' means thoughtful, whereas you likely meant 'pervasive' or 'pressing'. Additionally, 'in favoring of' is grammatically awkward. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey a basic meaning, it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You should focus on learning collocations and using more academic vocabulary to express your ideas clearly and accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. Phrases like 'many people claiming that' (should be 'many people claim') and 'other rejected this notion' (should be 'others reject') show issues with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency. The sentence structure is quite simple, and the incomplete nature of the text prevents the demonstration of a wide range of complex structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb forms and consistent tense usage throughout your writing.
