Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, though the development is limited. The essay identifies the two views—that junk food advertising should be banned versus the view that it is not the primary cause of obesity—but the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the discussion on 'lack of time' and 'stress' as alternative causes is relevant but lacks depth or specific examples. The position is stated in the introduction but remains somewhat vague throughout the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you need to provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples to support your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. Transitions like 'At the fleeting glance' and 'to express my rest hand' are non-standard and confusing, which disrupts the flow of ideas. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are often used incorrectly or mechanically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly improve the score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'in this regards', 'on the rest hand', and 'running back of money'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the message. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, you should focus on learning common collocations and academic phrases. For example, instead of 'running to earn money', use 'the demands of a busy professional life'. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to health and advertising would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('factors also contributes'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'First and foremost reason is that lack of time, To justify it , in today's world everyone running to earn money'. The control over complex structures is weak, and the errors often cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on consistent verb tense usage throughout the essay.
