Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 117 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the essay attempts to address both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, the discussion is underdeveloped and lacks sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The prompt asks for a discussion of both views and an opinion, but the response is cut off mid-argument, preventing a full exploration of the topic. To improve, you must expand your points with detailed explanations and concrete examples to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with an introduction and the beginning of a body paragraph. However, the lack of completion makes it difficult to assess the overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and sometimes mechanical way, such as 'One possible reason is'. The paragraphing is incomplete, as the response ends abruptly. To achieve a higher score, you need to ensure that your ideas are fully developed and linked together using a wider range of cohesive devices to create a smooth flow between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'counted as' instead of 'considered', 'reasons' instead of 'reason', and 'process foods' instead of 'processed foods'. The phrase 'colossal number of people' is a good attempt at a more sophisticated collocation, but overall, the vocabulary is repetitive and lacks the flexibility needed to discuss the topic in depth. Focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to health and advertising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'this advertising should be ban' (should be banned), 'others opinion is' (the opinion of others is), and 'its not require to ban' (it is not required to be banned). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the existing sentences are often simple or contain errors in verb tense and passive voice construction. To improve, focus on mastering the passive voice, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
