Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many societies, fatness is crucial problem for people. Many people say that fast food marketing is big problem for the fat and these ad should be banned. And other people believe that that junk food advertising is not problem of fatness and that advertise is should not restrict.

On the one hand, some people are blame the advertising of fast food for their fat. Advertising of the food is attract most people for trying the food of the new open shop. If any shop or any francizes open in any city or any area so they advertise of this shop and they make people curious about food and their taste in their shop and people are going to taste food and if they find joyful they go often this shop and eat food so this is the problem of the fat people and they say that food marking are banned so they don't know where new shop is open and food so they are not going to that place.

On the other hand, fit people are telling that advertisement is not the problem of these cause people themself is the problem of these cause. Slim people are say that advertisement should be not banned. Slim people think that if we don't know that place of having food then how we are going there and taste the food.

In my opinion, ad should not banned because fat is problem of themself so they are not blaming the advertisement for they own problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For example, the argument regarding why advertising should be banned is explained in a circular manner, focusing on the curiosity of customers rather than the health implications or societal impact. The second viewpoint is also underdeveloped, relying on simplistic reasoning. To improve, you should provide more specific examples, such as the impact of marketing on children or the role of government regulation, to move beyond basic assertions and demonstrate a deeper understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed due to the limited range of cohesive devices. You rely heavily on basic transitions like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but the internal links between sentences are often weak or mechanical. For instance, the transition 'so this is the problem of the fat people' is abrupt and does not logically connect to the previous clause. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. Words like 'fat', 'problem', and 'food' are used repeatedly throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'fatness is crucial problem' instead of 'obesity is a major issue' and 'francizes' (franchises). To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations related to health, marketing, and societal issues, while ensuring they are used accurately in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'advertisement should be not banned'), missing articles (e.g., 'is big problem'), and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'people are blame'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, such as 'if we don't know that place of having food then how we are going there'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct tense usage and the proper placement of articles and prepositions.
