Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, including both views and a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the argument regarding the economic impact of banning advertisements is mentioned but not fully explored with specific evidence or logical depth. The position is clear, but the supporting points are somewhat repetitive and lack the necessary depth to reach a higher band. The essay meets the minimum word count requirement, but the ideas remain at a surface level throughout the discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To begins with', 'to add on more', and 'In contrasts'. These transitions feel forced rather than natural. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, which hinders the overall progression of the argument. Better use of linking words would significantly improve the logical flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'advertising totally banding' instead of 'banning advertising', 'rise the cravings' instead of 'increase cravings', and 'adept healthy life style' instead of 'adopt a healthy lifestyle'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the frequent misuse of basic terms prevent the essay from achieving a higher score. More variety and accurate usage are needed.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('We does not', 'the people does not'), incorrect verb forms ('advertising gone band'), and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with frequent misuse of capital letters and full stops. These errors are persistent and occasionally make the text difficult to read, though the overall message remains understandable.
