Student answer (Band 4.5)

Obesity is considered globally as public health problems specially which is found in teenagers and young people.

different scholars and people have different perspectives to control obesity.

There is two types of people in our community.

First category which blames fast food companies which run advertisements on social media and other platforms as a major contributor of obesity while the second category thinks fast food advertisement has no effect on obesity.

lets discuss both categories the first one thinks that advertisement play important role to change someone minds specially the young one and new generation. According to my experience they are right because fast food is getting familiarity everywhere because of the globalization and the advertisements and the social media. let me expalin it with example i am living in rural area far from city people were so health but due to advertisement people travel in car and on bicycle to get that junky food because the pictures they showed in advertisement bring saliva in somones mouth.

but if we discuss the later category, they were also right because according to my experience junk food ads is not just the problem and you cant just ban advertisement of the food because its the part of life and someone cat get fast food in minutes which is also a good thing.

According to my opinion the 2nd group have other things in mind like obesity is increasing by not doing exercise daily and taking extra calories. Genetics is also a great contributor of obesity and fatty liver

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding junk food advertising and includes the writer's own opinion, fulfilling the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas remains superficial. For instance, the argument about living in a rural area and traveling to get junk food because advertisements make people's mouths water is an interesting personal anecdote, but it is not sufficiently generalized or supported to meet the criteria for higher bands. The conclusion touches upon exercise, genetics, and calories, but these points are introduced abruptly without full integration into a well-developed argument. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially, aligning closely with Band 5 descriptors where ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay lacks formal paragraphing, as the text is presented in a continuous block of lines with very poor structural organization. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, with colloquial transitions like 'lets discuss' and 'let me expalin it with example' replacing appropriate academic discourse markers. The overall progression of ideas is difficult to follow because sentences are strung together without clear logical sequencing or referencing. While the writer attempts to introduce different categories of people, the lack of clear paragraph breaks and reliable cohesive ties means the response falls short of Band 5, though some organizational intent is visible.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and occasionally inaccurate, which heavily restricts the communicative quality of the essay. Words and phrases such as 'public health problems specially which is found', 'junky food', and 'bring saliva in somones mouth' demonstrate a limited range and an inappropriate register for an Academic Task 2 response. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as 'expalin', 'somones', and 'health' instead of 'healthy'. These limitations place the lexical resource firmly at a Band 5 level, where vocabulary is minimally adequate but noticeable errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex ones. Punctuation is largely absent, with missing capitalization at the beginning of sentences and missing apostrophes (e.g., 'cant', 'somones'). Run-on sentences and fragment structures are frequent, such as 'First category which blames fast food companies...' which lacks a main verb. Grammatical errors are frequent throughout the text, often straining the reader's comprehension and matching the profile of Band 4, where errors are frequent and significantly disrupt sentence structure.
