Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to discuss both views regarding junk food advertising and obesity, and provides a concluding stance. However, the development of ideas is severely hindered by severe language barriers. While the student mentions arguments for both sides—such as health issues associated with junk food and the counter-argument regarding personal choice and awareness—these points are underdeveloped, repetitive, and heavily obscured by poor expression. The position is stated rather than clearly reasoned or well supported with clear examples. This aligns with the Band 4 descriptor, where the response approaches the task minimally and ideas are unclear and insufficiently developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The overall organisation of the essay is heavily disrupted by extreme difficulties with sentence boundaries, erratic punctuation (such as spaces before commas and periods), and improper paragraphing. While there are some transitional attempts such as 'Intitiating with the points supporting' and 'On the contrary', cohesive devices are largely misused or mechanically applied. Referencing is unclear, and the progression of ideas fails to flow logically, resulting in a text where information and ideas are not arranged coherently, matching the Band 4 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and plagued by severe spelling errors throughout (e.g., 'calimed' for claimed, 'abesity' for obesity, 'wherease' for whereas, 'pronlem' for problem, 'minitary' for ministry, 'staing' for stating, 'renowent' for renowned, 'professar' for professor, 'confiremend' for confirmed, 'reasearch' for research). The limited range of vocabulary and persistent errors in word choice and spelling severely strain the reader and frequently impede communication, which clearly fits the Band 4 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is extremely weak throughout the response. The text consists almost entirely of severe structural errors, run-on sentences, and faulty complex sentence attempts (e.g., 'nowdays some person eat junk food it is more side effect in their pepole body'). There is a complete lack of control over basic sentence construction, verb forms, and plurals. Errors are pervasive and constantly distort meaning, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended message, which is characteristic of the Band 4 descriptor.
