Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on junk food advertising and providing a personal opinion, which aligns with the requirements for Band 6. The introduction outlines the two perspectives and your stance, though the position becomes somewhat repetitive by the conclusion. Main ideas are presented, such as the influence of misleading marketing strategies on youngsters and the counter-argument that lifestyle and personal choice are more significant factors. However, the development of these ideas is sometimes limited and lacks robust supporting evidence or specific examples beyond general mentions of fast-food chains like Domino's. To reach a higher band, the arguments would benefit from greater depth, more thorough extension of ideas, and a more explicit connection between the evidence provided and the societal impacts discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs discussing both views, personal opinion, and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct arguments, as seen when transitioning from the former view in paragraph two to the latter view in paragraph three. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disrupted by mechanical or faulty cohesive devices. Words and transitional phrases such as 'Former view', 'Latter veiw', and 'Howerever' are used awkwardly or inaccurately. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, and repetitive structural patterns hinder the smooth flow of the text. To improve, you should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive links and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic ideas related to the task, attempting words such as 'advertisement', 'mindset', 'alternatives', and 'obesity'. However, the range is limited and repetition occurs frequently throughout the essay, particularly words like 'youngster', 'advertising', and 'problem'. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the precision of the writing, such as 'belived', 'vanish', 'attributes', 'problemod', 'mindwash', 'unwelling', 'margine', 'lauched', 'usally', 'habbit', 'excersies', and 'deit'. These errors and awkward collocations, such as 'mindwash the youngster mind', occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the lexical score from reaching Band 6. A stronger focus on accurate word forms and varied vocabulary will greatly enhance this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. However, control over grammar and punctuation is weak, with frequent errors occurring across almost every sentence. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('marketing ... is claimed', 'obesity is totally depends'), missing articles ('societies', 'advertisment'), incorrect prepositions, and structural fragmentation, particularly noticeable in the incomplete final sentence ('If individuals do not maintain a healthy deit ,exercise regularly and manage their daily habits.'). While the meaning can generally be inferred despite these errors, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies means that error-free sentences are rare. To achieve a higher band, you must focus on basic sentence construction, punctuation rules, and reducing structural errors.
