Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on junk food advertising and providing a personal opinion in the conclusion. The position is clear throughout, and the main ideas are supported with relevant arguments, such as the influence of advertisements on consumption and the impact of busy lifestyles. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed due to limited elaboration and occasional lexical limitations, placing the response solidly at Band 5.5 to Band 6. Specifically, phrases like 'a survey conducted by SK company' lack contextual depth, and the arguments could be extended further to fully meet higher band descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. The student uses standard transitional markers such as 'To begin with', 'To commence with first', and 'On the other hand', but expressions like 'just because to this reason' and referencing errors disrupt the natural flow of ideas. Paragraphing is present and logically separates the different viewpoints, but paragraph transitions and internal referencing could be managed more skilfully to achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about obesity and advertising. However, there is a noticeable presence of spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'belives' instead of 'believes', 'disscus' instead of 'discuss', 'relivent' instead of 'relevant', 'lounched' instead of 'launched', and 'opint' instead of 'opinion'. While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they prevent the text from achieving a higher rating, as the range of vocabulary remains basic and attempts at less common lexical items are often inaccurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over basic sentence patterns. However, frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing appear throughout the response. Examples include 'fast food leads various health problems' (missing preposition), 'advertising is majorly blame for this problem' (incorrect form), and 'advertisements does not plays any role' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation and phrasing errors like 'everone has its own view opint some are in favour of this nation' further restrict the score. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
