Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on junk food advertising and providing a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion regarding advertising relies heavily on vague references to 'hormonal activity' and 'taste bud memory' without substantive elaboration or real-world examples. The student's position is clear throughout, but the arguments lack the depth and extension required for higher bands. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with standard paragraphing, utilizing conventional signposts such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, progression is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical cohesion. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences like 'They thinks that after watching this content people are more inclined...' where pronoun reference and transitions feel slightly disjointed. Paragraphing is present and separates the opposing views, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs requires more precise connective devices.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'taste bud memory' and 'decision taking power'. However, there are numerous word choice and collocation errors, as well as spelling mistakes ('publicize' instead of 'publicising', 'Advertisment', 'platflorm', 'guildlines', 'conlusion'). The vocabulary is sometimes basic or used unnaturally, for example, 'a sack of people' instead of 'a section of people' or 'many people'. These lexical inaccuracies restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but it is heavily marred by frequent grammatical errors. Examples of errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('some supporter argued', 'They thinks'), article misuse ('the the major problem'), and awkward word order ('an adult is having mature thinking and decision taking power that they do influence by such content'). While the basic meaning usually remains understandable, the frequency of errors across both simple and complex structures prevents the writing from achieving a higher band.
