Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to discuss both views on junk food advertising and obesity, and it presents a personal opinion that advertising is a major cause and should be banned. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For example, the student asserts that advertising encourages people to buy through smartphones but fails to fully extend this argument with deeper societal examples or well-reasoned evidence. The prompt is addressed, but the treatment of the topic remains superficial and lacks the depth expected for a higher band. Consequently, the performance aligns closely with Band 5, as the ideas are limited, under-developed, and the position, while stated, is not sustained with robust supporting evidence across the entire essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks clear logical organisation and smooth progression. While the student attempts to use paragraphing, the paragraphs are extremely short, disjointed, and sometimes consist of only one or two sentences, such as 'Myopinion is junk food is very danger for health...' Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, with frequent reliance on basic linkers or abrupt transitions like 'In the other hand' instead of 'On the other hand'. Referencing is also problematic, as pronouns do not always clearly refer to previously mentioned nouns. Overall, the structural arrangement shows some rudimentary organisation, but the lack of cohesive management and logical flow places this text firmly within Band 4.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily restricted. The student repeatedly uses words like 'danger' instead of 'dangerous', 'use' instead of 'consumption', and 'to much' instead of 'too much'. Less common lexical items are attempted unsuccessfully, leading to awkward word choices such as 'hygince' (hygiene) and spelling errors like 'aviod', 'oilly', 'responsibe', and 'resturant'. These lexical inadequacies and frequent spelling mistakes cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and strain comprehension at times. This vocabulary profile meets the descriptors for Band 4, where the range is basic and repetitive, and errors consistently strain the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is severely limited, consisting mostly of simple and frequently faulty sentence structures. There are persistent, major errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation throughout the text. Examples include 'Tomuch use of the junk food is very danger for human health' and 'In these days the child and teen ages use the phone to much'. Complex sentence forms are rare and, when attempted, are almost entirely inaccurate. Punctuation is haphazard, with missing spaces and incorrect capitalization. Due to the high frequency of errors that frequently distort meaning and impede communication, this response falls under Band 4 for grammar.
