Student answer (Band 5.0)
There is a considerable debate about whether junk food advertising is largely to blame for obesity and should be banned, while some people believe that it does not affect any problem and should not be banned. I believe that the junk food should not be banned even though there are some disadvantages. This essay will discuss both views.
On the one hand, junk food can cause health issus which can lead to various problems. They are restricted in many family because it is not got for children as well as elder people. Most of the teenagers consume junk food daily and not have healthy meals which make them sick regularly. Junk food cantains contaminated food and they are preserved for a long time. The process can also be unhealthy, people on online post manufacturing of these product where the places are not well maintained and have lack of hygiene. This leads to lack of diseases and sicknes in humans. Therefore, this is the reason they should ban junk food.
On the other hand, junk food can have better taste compared to healthy food while is why most youngster prefer having it so that they can enjoy they food while eating. even though it can effect our heath we should make sure we don't consume it in our daily bases. We can have junk food when we are hungry such as chips, burger, rolls , chocolate and many more which gives us a different kinds of flavour. Most people prefer when they hangout with friend or in canteen.
In conclusion, junk food can be unhealthy and could lead us in difficult situations, however we should make sure that we do not have it daily. We can have junk food occasionally if we are craving and it has been a long time. People should have limits and have it once in awhile which does not affect us health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on whether junk food advertising should be banned and provides a personal opinion. However, the student largely shifts the focus from 'junk food advertising' to 'junk food consumption' itself, which represents a slight misinterpretation of the task. The position is stated in the introduction and maintained throughout, although the arguments regarding advertising are weak or missing. In the body paragraphs, the ideas lean heavily towards why junk food is unhealthy rather than why advertising should or should not be banned. Therefore, the task is addressed only partially, aligning with the Band 5 descriptors where ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed in relation to the specific prompt about advertising.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at paragraphing. However, the logical progression is weak. The first body paragraph mixes ideas about health issues, hygiene, and disease, while the second body paragraph jumps to taste preferences and social hangouts. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'On the one hand' followed by 'On the other hand' without contrasting two distinct sides of the advertising debate properly, but rather listing reasons for and against consuming the food itself. Referencing is occasionally unclear, for example, using 'they' ambiguously. Overall organisation shows some basic structure, but cohesion is faulty and mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited and repetitive, with frequent vocabulary errors that occasionally impede understanding. Examples include 'health issus' (spelling), 'not got' (word choice for 'not good'), 'cantains' (spelling), and 'lack of diseases and sicknes' (which logically contradicts the intended meaning of causing illness). While the student attempts some less common phrases like 'manufacturing of these product' and 'consume it in our daily bases', these attempts contain noticeable errors in collocation and grammar. The vocabulary is minimally adequate for expressing basic thoughts, but frequent inaccuracies place it firmly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentences, but grammatical accuracy is low. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and pluralisation, such as 'many family', 'teenagers consume junk food daily and not have', and 'it can effect our heath'. Punctuation and subject-verb agreement are also problematic, as seen in 'people on online post manufacturing of these product where the places are not well maintained'. Complex structures are frequently faulty, causing difficulty for the reader and restricting the grammar score to a Band 5.
