Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response is severely underdeveloped and fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, containing only 126 words. While the student attempts to address the prompt by introducing both views and briefly stating a personal opinion, the discussion remains superficial. The arguments are not extended or adequately supported with relevant evidence. For instance, the mention of hot loaded pizzas causing cravings is too brief to constitute a well-developed supporting example. Because the response is significantly under-length and lacks the necessary depth to properly discuss the prompt, it falls into the lower band categories for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into two very short paragraphs, showing an initial attempt at organisation, but lacking a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate, such as using 'Whereas other argue' to introduce a contrasting view with grammatical errors, or using 'Consequently, they will able' where logical sequencing is faulty. Paragraphing is insufficient given the brevity of the response, and referencing is occasionally unclear. Overall, the structural framework is too fragile to support a coherent longer essay, leading to a modest band score in this category.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'highly processed food', 'prohibited', and 'cravings'. However, the range is limited and repetition occurs. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as saying promotion 'does not leads' instead of 'does not lead', and stating that marketing 'Plays a major role on these issues' rather than 'in these issues'. These errors detract from precision, though communication is generally maintained. A wider and more accurate deployment of vocabulary is needed for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a mix of simple and attempted complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the advertisement... are', 'advertisement... does not leads') and verb form errors ('they will able to discourage'). Punctuation and word forms also show persistent flaws. Although the meaning can mostly be deciphered with effort, the high frequency of grammatical mistakes prevents the response from achieving a higher score on the range and accuracy scale.
