Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, stopping abruptly at only 177 words. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete as the student stops mid-sentence ('or there') and fails to discuss both views fully or provide a clear personal opinion. While the writer attempts to introduce the topic regarding junk food advertising and obesity, the arguments are severely underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence. Due to the under-length penalty and the lack of a complete discussion and personal conclusion, the task achievement is significantly impacted. To improve, ensure you allocate enough time to write at least 250 words, fully address all parts of the prompt, and write a complete concluding paragraph presenting your own view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay lacks clear logical organisation and proper progression, largely because it is unfinished. The text begins with a short introductory attempt followed by a single body paragraph, but there is no concluding paragraph. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or inaccurate manner, such as 'Secndly' and 'additionally ', and referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'he gets the feeling'). Paragraphing is poorly handled as the text essentially consists of a single block of writing after the initial sentence. To achieve a higher band score, you must structure your essay into clear, distinct paragraphs—an introduction, at least two body paragraphs discussing the views, and a conclusion—and use cohesive devices more naturally to link your ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The lexical range is limited and contains numerous spelling and word-choice errors that impede communication. Examples of errors include 'advertisment', 'individusls', 'resultant to cause effect', 'Secndly', 'additionally ', 'builts', and 'sugry'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'ultra processed snacks', but the control is weak due to frequent inaccuracies. To improve your lexical resource, you should focus on accurate spelling, learn correct word collocations (e.g., 'cause an effect' or 'have an impact'), and expand your vocabulary around health and advertising so you can express your ideas with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is limited, relying heavily on basic sentence structures with frequent errors that cause difficulty for the reader. There are persistent mistakes in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and clause structures, such as 'some people blame that advertisment...', 'whenever an individual watch...', and 'everything becomes a trend so there are several kind of trends to sell the products are advertised...'. Additionally, the response ends abruptly with an incomplete sentence fragment ('or there'). Punctuation and spacing are also faulty throughout the text. To improve, practise writing complex sentences with accurate grammatical subordination and check your work carefully for basic errors in agreement and tense.
