Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main prompt by discussing both views on junk food advertising and providing a personal opinion, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on why advertising should be banned relies heavily on repetitive assertions rather than extended arguments or solid evidence. While a position is stated, it is expressed rather simply and the overall treatment of the second viewpoint lacks depth. To move forward, the writer needs to ensure that every main idea is fully explained with relevant examples and that both sides of the prompt receive balanced and thorough consideration.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation present, with attempts to separate the response into logical paragraphs and use transition markers such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly'. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the connection between sentences often feels disjointed. Cohesive devices are used rather mechanically, and referencing is frequently unclear, as seen in expressions like 'moveover' and 'morely'. Paragraphing is also disrupted by the incomplete ending of the essay. To improve in this area, the writer should focus on creating smoother logical links between sentences and ensuring each paragraph builds effectively toward a unified conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. The writer relies heavily on basic, repetitive terms and attempts less common vocabulary with noticeable inaccuracy. There are frequent errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling throughout the text, such as 'citys', 'poster and banner's', 'nerf', 'consumeing', 'refurbished oil', and 'gernal public'. These lexical slips and spelling mistakes occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, learn the correct forms and spellings of common academic terms, and use words with greater precision and appropriateness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled complex attempts. Frequent errors are present in articles, plurals, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, such as 'fast food poster and banner's is the biggest', 'does not have any role to the problem', and 'a person who did not watch any ad of fast food. he did not crave for it.' These errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer needs to practice forming complex sentences accurately, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and punctuation, and eliminate basic grammatical slips.
